Cookie & Storage Policy

Last updated: May 4, 2025

The Short Version

mrmr does not use cookies. We use browser localStorage for two things: keeping you logged in and storing a device fingerprint for abuse prevention. That's it.

What We Store

KeyPurposeLifetime
murmur_userStores your user ID, username, and authentication token so you stay logged in between visitsUntil logout
murmur_fpA SHA-256 hash of browser characteristics used for ban enforcement. No raw device data is stored — only the hashUntil logout

Analytics

We use Umami, a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics tool. Umami does not set any cookies or use browser storage. It collects only anonymous, aggregated page-view statistics and cannot identify or track individual users. No consent banner is required because no personal data is collected or stored by the analytics script.

No Third-Party Cookies

We do not use any third-party cookies, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs. No data is shared with ad networks or data brokers through browser storage.

Clearing Storage

Logging out of mrmr clears all localStorage entries. You can also clear them manually through your browser's developer tools or settings under "Site Data" or "Local Storage."

Clearing storage will log you out. You will need your username and password (or secret word) to sign back in.

Hosting Provider

mrmr is hosted on Vercel, which may set its own functional cookies (such as __vercel_live_token) in preview/development environments. These are not set in production and are not controlled by us.
